About Me
My name is Cameron Maclean, and I graduated from California State University San Bernardino in June 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Growing up, I spent most of my time playing different sports
and was even in the Boy Scouts, reaching the rank of Life Scout before leaving to focus on High School football. Growing up I was constantly busy and had many different hobbies, with the most notable one being video games.
The one game that really got me into video games was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, and my love for that game really puts a capstone on my affection for the RPG genre in general. I really didn't know what I wanted
to do for my future until I got to high school, where I was introduced to a programming class and instantly fell in love. Ever since that class I have pursued game development, specifically programming, and enjoying the challenge
that comes with it and the positive feeling when you solve these challenges.
With my degree being in Computer Science, my biggest strengths when it comes to game development is my knowledge of programming and mathematics and my ability to try and translate parts of game development that I am weak with into concepts that I understand
and work well with. A great example for this is how I have learned Visual Effects in Unity. I am not as strong artistically as I am mathematically, so I looked at visual effects purely mathematically and would build these effects via formulas and other
concepts I understood much better so that I can actually implement something that looks and feels good. After I graduated from CSUSB, I have spent my free time trying to learn as many different focuses of game development to make sure I have a good understanding of
whatever I need to work on to complete different games. Currently most of my time is devoted to my current project, Yard Wars, where I work with my friends as the project manager along with working on a lot of the gameplay programming. We are hoping to have a full demo ready
on April 6th, 2021.
